Georgian, Turkish sailors captured by pirates in Gulf of Aden

The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Georgian
sailors were captured by Somalian pirates, News Georgia reports.


The details of the incident and the names of sailors are unknown. The
pirates captured the MV OLIB G vessel sailing under a Maltese flag
(Greek company Frio Venturas S.A. is the operator), with a crew of 15
Georgian sailors and 3 Turkish citizens, the site of EUNAVFOR Somalia
- Operation Atlanta reports.


The attack happened yesterday morning in the eastern part of Aden Gulf.
The vessel was heading west and was within the corridor recommended
for civilian transport.


The crew of MV OLIB G reported that a motor boat was heading their
direction, then contact was lost. A helicopter was sent, which spotted
two pirates on board the vessel.
