Cyprus problem could be resolved, Joe Biden says
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaUS vice-president Joe Biden says that the leaders of the Greek and Turkish communities of Cyprus are ready to solve the Cyprus problem, and today it is quite possible.
“The two leaders decided to meet twice a month and establish inter-community committees, as well as extend cooperation in seeking for the missing,” Biden said. The next meeting between the Greek and the Turkish Cypriot leaders will take place on June 2nd.
Nicosia states that the visit by the US vice-president is historic, as it confirms Washington’s striving for settlement of the conflict and that it admits Cyprus’s rights to the natural resources in its exclusive economic zone.
Biden admits that Cyprus could play an important role as an alternative energy corridor, not only for the region but also for Europe in general. He also pointed out the great efforts made by the government and people of Cyprus to reconstruct the economy.
