Self-defense troops to appear in Dagestan

Local residents of the village of Sogratl of the Gunib Region of Dagestan have decided to establish self-defense troops which will cooperate with law-enforcement agencies and detect bandits and their supporters.

According to residents of the village, a tense situation is continuing in the village due to representatives of a local Salafi group, and that is why it is necessary to establish self-defense troops. In recent times religious extremists have intensified their activity in the village, and this has led to a direct confrontation between supporters of the Salafis and their ideological opponents.
