Russian language to to be taught in Syrian schools

The Russian language is going to be taught in Syrian schools as an obligatory subject., the head of the Russian Association of International Cooperation, Sergey Stepashin is quoted as saying by RIA Novosti. 

Accorrding to Stepashin, Syria has always been Russia's friend and major ally in the region.
