Ramil Hasanov to become new Turkic Council secretary general

Secretary General of the Turkic Council Halil Akinci said at the 4th summit of the organization that he will be succeeded by Ramil Hasanov, ex-acting secretary general of the Turkic Council Parliamentary Assembly (TURKPA). Akinci’s term of office expires in September 2014, 1news.az reports.

The official noted that the summit was concluded with a decision to develop tourism along the Silk Road. Attendees of the summit discussed formation of a joint Turkic TV channel and foundation of an investment fund.

The secretary general was pleased to see Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov taking part in the summit personally. Akinci concluded his speech by saying that a Turkic diaspora center will open in Europe and another one in the U.S.
