The Russian Federation celebrates Independence Day

Today, June 12, the Russian Federation celebrates one of the most important state holidays of the country – Independence Day. On this day in 1990 the first Congress of People's Deputies of the RSFSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Russia, in which the domination of the Constitution of Russia and its laws was proclaimed.The official name "Independence Day" appeared in 2002.One of the newest state holidays of the Russian Federation is being celebrated in the territory of the whole country today, including in Crimea and Sevastopol, and also abroad.In addition, three Georgian cities will join the celebrations of Independence Day for the first time. Events will take place in Tbilisi, Batumi and Rustavi.
