Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko has appointed a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Irina Gerashchenko, to be in charge of the conflict settlement in the southeast of the country. The order was published on the Ukrainian president's website, the document came into force from the moment of publication. According to the resolution, Gerashchenko will have access to the presidential information base and communication systems, and she will also be able to discuss questions about the involvement of various experts in the power operation. Gerashchenko's main task, in addition to putting forward the president's position, is "to stop encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and implementation of the peace plan of the President of Ukraine to resolve the situation in the east of Ukraine," Lenta.ru reports.
