China invests over $1 billion in Turkmen gas pipeline construction

Meng Fenchung, deputy director general of Trans-Asia Gaz Pipeline Company Limited (TAPLINE) said at a scientific and economic forum in Bishkek today that his company was planning to invest about $2 billion in construction of a section of the Turkmen-Chinese pipeline that will run through Kyrgyzstan, CA-News reports.China will invest over $1 billion. Over $2 billion will be paid as customs fees and taxes.The pipeline running from Karamyk to Ishtamberdy will be 215km long. It will have a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters a year. It will be exploited for over 35 years. The construction will take 3 years.
