Armed man attempts assassination of Turkish PM

A man armed with a pistol attacked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Samsun at 5.00pm yesterday. The police disarmed the man before a single shot could be fired.

Erdogan was attacked by a man with a pistol in Istanbul on June 7. The suspect denied being a member of any organization and claimed that he wanted to scare Erdogan, not murder him.
