U.S. has doubts about elections in Afghanistan

Spokeswoman of the U.S. State Department Jen Psaki said that there were serious reasons to suspect falsifications in the second round of presidential polls in Afghanistan, CA-NEWS reports.

In her words, candidates for president Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and Abdullah Abdullah agreed to recount over 3 million voting papers in over 7,000 ballot boxes. Psaki noted that an independent electoral commission should cooperate with the UN.

According to preliminary results, Ahmadzai won the elections. Supporters of Abdullah claimed that there were mass falsifications and demanded postponing the vote count.
