Turkish PM wants new push in EU membership talks

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the country needed Italy, the state chairing the European Union, to give it a new stimulus in negotiations on EU membership. Erdogan emphasized at an iftar organized for diplomatic missions at the Justice and Development headquarters that the topic of talks with the EU should be expanded, Trend reports.

The prime minister noted that Turkey was committed to finding a political solution to the Cypriot problem and was expecting the Greek population of the island to demonstrate similar intentions.
