Fuad Masum named president of Iraq

 

The Iraqi parliament has elected Fuad Masum as the president of the country. The elections were supposed to be held yesterday but were postponed due to differences of MPs about candidates for the post, ITAR-TASS reports.Salim al-Juburi, a member of the Sunni coalition, was declared the speaker last week.The president of Iraq serves as a representative figure in the country. The power in Iraq belongs to the prime minister, who is yet to be elected.
