New Israeli president sworn in

New Israeli President Reuven Rivlin was sworn in on Thursday night. The official ceremony was held in the Israeli Parliament. Rivlin replaced 90-year-old Shimon Peres, whose term in office finished.

Rivlin is an Israeli politician and lawyer. He was formerly a member of the Likud party.

Shimon Peres is a Polish-born Israeli statesman. He served as the ninth President of Israel since 2007.
