The Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (JDP) has sued the
British newspaper The Daily Telegraph over an article that claimed the
party receives financial support from Iran, TRT reports.

The article appeared after the referendum on constitutional
amendments. The author of the article said that the party had received
$25 million for the 2011 election campaign.

The newspaper said that Iran has already handed over $12 million to
Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who plans to run for a third
term, and the rest of the sum will be issued later.

The ruling party denies the allegations and will turn to local and
international courts.
