Palestinian leader sees humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza

Palestinian Leader Mahmous Abbas said in a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that the Gaza Strip was a zone of a humanitarian catastrophe. He urged the UN chief to make use of article 99 of the Charter, Interfax reports.

Abbas asked Ban Ki-moon to make a request to other countries to collect food, water and medicines for Gaza. The Palestinian leader emphasized the need to open humanitarian corridors.
