Number of Russian Airborne Forces to reach 72,000 troops

 

The Russian Defense Ministry has approved the proposal of commanders of the Airborne Forces to double their number to 72,000 troops, ITAR-TASS reports.The additional forces will be formed from air-assault regiment and by reorganizing existing units. The 45th special airborne regiment will have been transformed into a brigade by December 2014.
