Emirates stops Dubai-Erbil flights

The Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has announced that it will stop Dubai-Erbil flights on August 12, 2014. Flights to Baghdad and Basra will continue, RIA Novosti reports.

Emirates and some other large airlines stopped flights over Iraq due to security reasons. The situation on the aviation market was affected by the crash of the Malaysian Boeing 777 in the eastern part of Ukraine, according to President of Emirates Airlines Tim Clark.

The Islamic State and the armed forces of Iraqi Kurdistan have activated their offensives in the northern part of Iraq in the last two days.
