German leader congratulates Turkish PM on winning presidential polls

German Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erogan on winning the presidential polls with 52% of the votes cast. She wished him luck in his new post, RIA Novosti reports.

Oppositionist Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu got 38.5% of the vote, Selahatting Demirtas of the People’s Democratic Party got 9.7%. The vote turnout was 73.1%.
