Builders on strike in Tbilisi city center
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaBuilders working for the Turkish company Synerge, who are building a hotel on Tabukashvili Street, have gone on strike in the center of Tbilisi. They are demanding their salaries and accuse their employer of violating the labour law. Part of the street was blocked for a while, News Georgia reports.
Arsen Tsintsadze, one of the activists protesting, said that 50 people were working at the construction site, 45 of them had bank loans to pay, over half of them were renting homes.
The workers were left disappointed with the results of the negotiations with officials of the company and plan to file a lawsuit. Lasha Dvali, a worker, said that the officials did not even apologize.
