Climbers to make fastest ascension of Mt. Elbrus

 

Vitaly Shkel, a Russian skyrunning master, the Russian champion, will start a run to the peak of Mt. Elbrus from the Azau Field at 6.00am on August 23, said Abdulhalim Olmezov, the president of the Alpinism, Rock-Climbing and Sports Tourism Federation of Kabardino-Balkaria, Yuga.ru reports.Shkel has already climbed the Peak of Lenin on Pamir, setting a record this year. He will now need to climb over 6km. Helicopters of the Ministry for Emergencies will assist him. The climber plans to set a Guinness record.
