UN independent experts to visit Azerbaijan A group of independent UN experts will visit Azerbaijan at the invitation of the government of the country on August 18. According to the press service of the organization, the purpose of the visit is to study the impact of economic activities on the human rights situation. One of the members of the UN working group on the issue of business and human rights, Puvan Selvanatan said that the oil-rich Azerbaijan is facing special problems in the field of human rights associated with the increased role of private companies in the economy, 1news.az reports. Experts will stay in Azerbaijan for 10 days. During this time, they will meet with representatives of the government and a number of companies, civil society organizations, trade unions and other interested parties.
