Exploration drilling on ‘Bulla-Deniz’ to continue until end of 2010

Drilling department ‘Sakhil’ of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) will continue exploration drilling on gas field ‘Bulla-Deniz’ in Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will continue, 1news.az reports.


The Vice-President of SOCAR Khashbakht Yusifzade said today that 4 500 m have already been drilled on bore hole number 89.


According to estimations, they can extract 500 000 cubic m of gas, the drilling is expected to finish in late 2010.


Yusifzade said that opening of the 8th productive horizon will increase gas production and condensate multifold.


Drilling of the bore hole N80 is carried out on stationary platform N82 on ‘Bulla-Deniz’ field. The total depth of the bore hole will reach 6400 m. Platform N82 was modernized in 2008.


‘Bulla-Deniz’ gas field is exploited since 1975. It has already produced 62 billion cubic m of gas and 11 million tons of oil and gas condensate. Annual gas extraction is 450 000 cubic m.
