Special economic zone to be formed in Iran’s Astara

The Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones approved the initiative, it will be realized by the Organization of Ports and Navigation, Iran.u reports.The Astara economic zone will cover 119 hectares, including 60 hectares of the port. The zone borders with Azerbaijan and has direct access to countries of the Caucasus, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. International transportation routes to Central Asia and the Eastern Asia go through the area.Shahrestan Astara is about 200km north-west of Rasht, the administrative center of the Gilan Province.
