Erdogan’s presidency will boost Russian-Turkish ties
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaNatalya Ulchenko, a docent of the MSU Institute of Asian and African Studies, said that the presidency of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey will boost Russian-Turkish ties. She noted that Erdogan’s campaign stressed the anti-American mood and some criticism of Europe, RIA Novosti reports.
Ulchenko reminded that Russia and Turkey had been opponents for centuries and now their relations were moving towards cooperation. In particular, Russia will supply Turkey with gas and tourists, Turkey will supply Russia with food. The docent believes that Turkey and the Customs Union could form a free trade zone in the future.
