U.S. senators want to aid Ukraine with weapons

Robert Menendez, the head of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, said that Russian forces were invading Ukraine and the U.S. should send Ukrainians defensive weapons that would make Russia pay a high price for further aggression, Interfax reports.

Senators John McCain and Mike Rogers, the head of the House Intelligence Committee, agreed with Menendez. McCain urged the U.S. to give Ukraine the weapons needed to fight.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Friday that Russian forces had invaded the territory of Ukraine. Some countries have seized on his words.
