Sudan breaks off diplomatic relations with Iran

Sudan has decided to break off relations with Iran. All Iranian cultural centers in Sudan will be closed over accusations of spreading Shiism, and diplomats will be expelled within three days, Iran.ru reports.

The decision was influenced by Saudi Arabia, which does not want Iran to strengthen its positions in the Middle East.

The first Iranian cultural center in Sudan opened in 1988. It organizes cultural events, offers lessons in Farsi and access to libraries.
