Is Ukraine about to establish peace? Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk signed a protocol on ceasefire which is expected to start at 18:00 o'clock Moscow time, representatives of the People's Republic of Donetsk informed.Today, the former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Donetsk Alexander Zaharchenko, the head of the Lugansk People's Republic Igor PLotnitskiy and the Russian ambassador to Kiev, Mikhail Zurabov, as well as the official representative of the OSCE on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine, Heidi Tagliavini met today in Minsk behind closed doors to discuss practical steps to end the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine. The parties are expected to agree on details of the settlement in the south-east of Ukraine on the basis of the peace plan proposed on September 3 by President Vladimir Putin. President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko promised before the meeting to order a cease-fire if parties sign a peace plan in Minsk.The deputy director of the CIS Institute, Vladimir Zharihin told VK in an interview that we have to refrain from excessive optimism about putting a quick end to war in Ukraine.
