In the near future Palestine will raise the question of its recognition by the international community, according to Sergey Stepashin, the chairman of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society, who met the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas last week.
“Palestine will raise the question before the international community, including the USA and Israel: either Palestine is recognized as a state (they should start the process within the UN), regarding certain international organizations having already recognized the Palestinian state, for example, UNESCO, or Palestine will address the international court to bring to account those who conducted the military operation in Gaza,” Stepashin explains.
During the meeting with Stepashin, Mahmoud Abbas compared the events in the east of Ukraine with the developments in Gaza, “when instead of the struggle against terrorism, houses are being destroyed; people, peaceful citizens, children and women are being killed.”
Sergey Stepashin also stated that the leader of Palestine thinks that “the changes in the political situation in Egypt (where there is a new leadership which is fighting Muslim extremism, including the Muslim Brotherhood) and contacts between Russia and Syria, and Russia and Algeria, establish security for the whole Middle East… Palestine and Syria used to have disputes on certain aspects. Today the Palestinian authorities support Syria in its struggle against terrorism.”
Stepashin urged to learn from Syrian President Bashar Assad how to fight terrorist, as it is urgent in the context of the intensification of Islamic State.
According to the chairman, there are three ways to influence terrorists:
First of all, financing of the IS terrorists should be cut off, as the financial channels are well-known by the Lubyanka, CIA, Mossad, BND, Mi-5, Mi-6.
Secondly, leaders of the IS should be killed one by one. This is a so-called operative work with “characters”, and Mossad can do the work perfectly, as well as the strong Syrian Special Forces.
Thirdly, “countries should follow the example of the USA: armed aggressive terrorists should be outlawed, so they can be destroyed even by strict, military activities.”
Answering the question of whether an international military operation could be launched against the terrorists, Stepashin said it could, but he added that “everything is focused on Ukraine at the moment,” apparently meaning that the USA and the EU are concentrated on the Ukrainian crisis.
