ADEX 2014 exhibition opens in Baku

The first ADEX 2014 exhibition organized by the Defense Ministry and the Defense Industry Ministry of Azerbaijan has opened in Baku today. 200 companies from 34 countries are demonstrating their military products, developing military cooperation with other countries and making deals.

Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister Yakhya Musayev said that the idea of organizing the exhibition came from the success of Azerbaijan in the military industry in recent years. Azerbaijan produces 900 types of military products, including all kinds of ammunition, different kinds of vehicles and weapons.

Russia’s Rosoboronexport, according to the head of its delegation Esen Topoyev, demonstrated advanced planes, ships, motorboats, armored vehicles, missile and artillery systems, ammunition, anti-missile systems and training equipment.

Russia presents the Ka-52 and Mi-family helicopter, BMPT-72 support vehicle, Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, project 636 and Amur-1650 submarines, project 11356 and Gepard-3.9 frigates, Svetlyak and Molniya high-speed motorboats, modernized T-90S tanks, BMP-3 infantry vehicles, Tigr armored cars, S-400 Triumf, Antey-2500, Buk-M2E, Top-M2E, Pantsir-S1 and Igla-S systems.

Topoyev reminded that Azerbaijan was the fifth-biggest trading partner of Russia and had an important strategic position between Europe and Asia.

CEO Company official Ulker Gasanov, a manager of the exhibition, said that Turkey, Israel, Belarus, South Korea, Poland and Ukraine had big expositions. The U.S., France, Croatia, Spain and other European countries will present and describe their weapons.

Turkish and Israeli Defense Ministers Ismet Yilmaz and Moshe Ya’alon arrived for the exhibition yesterday. The latter made his first visit to Baku. Roketsan (Turkey) is the golden sponsor of ADEX 2014, Damen Shipyards Group (Holland) is the platinum sponsor.
