Member of Khasavyurt Gang extradited to Russia

Khabib Khabibov, a 30-year-old native of Dagestan suspected of financial terrorism, has been extradited from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Russia, according to Marina Gridneva, spokeswoman of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, RIA Novosti reports.

In March 2014, Khabibov was put on the federal wanted list. He appeared on the international list in July. Interpol detained him at Sarajevo Airport on August 8.

In January 2013, Khabibov left a cardboard box at the house of a Kislovodsk businessman on the order of the so-called emir of the Khasavyurt Gang. The box contained a mobile phone and a message demanding that he activate the phone and pay 3 million rubles to finance the militants. The businessman called the police.
