Primakov: introduction of retaliatory sanctions is the right decision According to Yevgeny Primakov, the response to Western sanctions was needed but he emphasized that  Russia should not follow the path of isolationism. "Import substitution, of course, should contribute to the economic development of the country, the growth of gross domestic product, which is very needed. But that does not mean the movement towards isolationism in any way,"  he said quoted by RIA Novosti. According to Primakov, introducing the retaliatory sanctions was a right and necessary decision. "This is done to prevent the escalation of the sanctions that go against us. But it is by no means a way to isolationism," he stressed.
