Khloponin satisfied with Chechnya's development
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA federal TV channel will be established in the North Caucasus Federal District(NCFD). The channel will show the social and political situation in the country, Alexander Khloponin, the representative of Russia’s President in the North Caucasus Federal District, said at a
meeting with the teaching staff and students of the Russian Islamic University (RIU) of Kunta Hadzhi in Grozny, the president’s press service reports.
“A North Caucasus television channel will be established. The Caucasus region is rich in culture. There are no orphanages here. We will not be making a regional channel, but a federal one, showing the culture, religion and traditions of the people living in the region, the social and political situation in the North Caucasus”, Khloponin said. One of the RIU lecturers asked about the responsibility of journalists for spreading information which discredits the honour and dignity of Caucasian peoples. The ambassador to the NCFD noted that the term “people of Caucasian ethnicity” and other nationalistic slogns are a sign of lack of culture.
“I am a person of Caucasian nationality too, because I work here. Only illiterate people use such terms. It is a sign that their cultural level is low,” – Khloponin said. He emphasized that such nationalistic statements in the press create tensions in society, and instability in
the Caucasus is beneficial to elements abroad.
Talking about the role of religion in a person’s upbringing, Khloponin noted that people learn spiritual values at a very young age. “The basics of religion are studied in Russian schools. This is a good thing. A faithful man finds his place in this world, while a faithless
man does evil. It took me a long way to become faithful, but in coming to know God , I understood that I play a special role in this world", Khloponin said.
"Our objective, together with Chechen president Ramzan Kadirov, is to make the republic develop faster, to construct more industrial buildings. I’d like to hear the views of students on the development of the NCFD. I want the North Caucasus to become a pearl of Russia.
This is one of the reasons for my visit to the Chechen Republic,” – Khloponin stated in his speech to the students and the teachers of the RIU. He noted that he admires the fast changes that have occured in Chechnya. "Only a strong leader could achieve this. That is why the republic receives support from the federal center”, Khloponin emphasised.
The Russian deputy prime minister stated that Chechnya is completely different from what he had heard about it.
“I will come to conclusions at the end of my visit. So far, I have many positive emotions. I’ve seen children walking in the peaceful streets of thriving cities and villages,” – Khloponin said.
The ambassador mentioned that there is more construction in the Chechen republic than in any other part of Russia. “The NCFD development project plans to provide young families with beneficial conditions to buy housing. The loans are planned to be set at 5%
interest over 50 years. In such a case the families will need to pay 700 roubles monthly. I believe that it will be affordable for the
young families of the region. Many European and American countries developed using his system,” – Khloponin said.
Chechen President Ramzan Kadirov said in his speech to the students that he will provide those of them that pass their final exams with top marks with apartments not far from the university.
Earlier, Khloponin visited a construction site in the center of Gudermes, where a high-rise building is being constructed. Ramzan Kadirov showed the ambassador the progress of construction in Gudermes. “All the work will be done by May 1st, when Gudermes will
celebrate City Day. Do not worry, we will finish everything in time. We’re working 24 hours a day. I visit this place weekly. The street we’re walking on now was built in just a week, with all the communications and paving. Things in Gudermes change every hour. We’re
in a hurry to finish the construction in time,” – Kadirov said.
During his conversation with Kadirov, Khloponin asked about the education issues in the region and in the republic. “We have restored the old school system and built new ones to provide all students with places. The population in Chechnya is increasing yearly. Schools have all the necessary equipment, including computers and sports equipment, like in any modern school,” – Kadirov said.
Khloponin also visited the cadet corps in the village of Centaroy, where pupils put on a performance for the ambassador.
