The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) and
'Sumskoye SPA of Frunze' (Ukraine) have signed a contract on shipping
equipment to modernize the 'Astara' compression station to improve its
efficiency, Trend reports.

Increasing productivity is important for gas supplies to Iran.
According to 'Sumskoye SPA of Frunze', 'Astara' was built in 2005.
Azerbaijan uses it to transport gas to Iran. It produces 3 million
cubic m of gas daily. SOCAR decided to expand the compression station
to fulfill higher gas demands. A new compression line is currently
being constructed at the station.

Frunze SPA will install liquid gas drying equipment and other
engineering equipment including a dust-collection unit, an air
humidifier, container equipment, and high pressure separators.

Frunze SPA promised the equipment will be shipped in October-November this year.
'Sumskoye SPA of Frunze' has long ties with Azerbaijani oil, gas and
chemical enterprises. In 2002 they built 6.3 megawatt 'Severnaya'
compression station. It also participated in modernizing chemical
industry in Azerbaijan's Sumgayit.
