Destiny of the Caspian Sea is decided

The document, consisting of 19 points, establishes the rules of activity of all five states on the Caspian Sea. In particular, each country has the right to exclusive use of bio-resources to a distance of about 25 nautical miles from the coast. The bed and subsoil of the Caspian Sea will be divided on the basis of the conventional principles and norms of the international law "on realization of the sovereign rights of the parties for subsurface use and other lawful economic activity connected with the development of the resources of the seabed and subsoil by agreement of the parties". Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Hassan Rouhani and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the commitment to freedom and safety of navigation, the right to free access from the Caspian Sea to other seas and back on the basis of universally-recognized norms and the principles of international law, and to the preservation, restoration and rational use of the bio-resources of the Caspian Sea.
