Doku Umarov accuses field commanders of disobeying orders
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe leader of the North Caucasus militants, Doku Umarov, has suspended
three field commanders and said that they should be tried under
Islamic law.
The Kommersant paper said the announcement was made in a video message
on a separatist web-site.
Umarov was talking about commanders Aslanbek Vadalov, Huseyn Gakayev
and Tarkhane Gaziyev. Umarov accused them of sowing discord among
militants. The leader said that in August 2010 they posted a video
message in the Internet where he was explaining his resignation as the
'emir of the Caucasian emirate' and appointing Vadalov as his
successor.
Earlier Umarov had fired the 'press-secretary' of the extremists
Movladi Udugov for publishing the video message. The leader said that
the message was meant for interior use and said that he will remain
the 'emir of the Caucasian emirate'. After this, Gakayev made a speech
where he refused to obey Umarov and said that the Chechen militants
support his decision.
