Iranian cleric blasts Cameron anti-Iranian remarks

A senior Iranian cleric has rejected as “sheer lies” recent anti-Iran remarks by British Prime Minister David Cameron, saying the UK has a black record of supporting terrorism, Press TV reports.

“He (Cameron) falsely accused [us of pursuing non-civilian objectives in] our nuclear program and accused us of supporting terrorism. He falsely accused us of maltreating our people,” Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami told worshippers at the weekly Friday Prayers in Tehran.

During his speech at the UN General Assembly last month, Cameron pointed the finger at Iran for backing terrorism, adding that Tehran and London had “severe disagreements” over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program and its human rights situation.
