10 years since militants attacked Nalchik10 years ago, on October 13, 2005 Islamic militants launched a major attack on police and government buildings in the provincial capital of Nalchik, turning the city into a war zone wracked by gunfire and explosions. At least 35 law enforcement officers and 14 civilians were killed. The case is still being investigated by the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria.
