Functionaries suspected of kidnapping man detained in Georgia

Durmishkhan Gvarchliani, an ex-member of the constitutional security department of the Georgian Interior Ministry, Jemal Shoniya, an ex-member of the special operative department, Alexander Chanturiya and Georgy Kaldani are suspected of kidnapping Tbilisi resident Iosib Giorkhelidze, 19, on October 10 for a ransom of $300,000, Interfax reports.

Shoniya and Chanturiya were detained in Tbilisi on October 12, Gvarchliani was detained in Tskheti and Kaldani in Armazi on October 13.


Kaldani carried a pistol and $10,000 when he was detained.
