The deputy ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, Gudsi Osmanov, is sure that the Azerbaijani community in Russia is in an extremely deep crisis. He spoke about this during a speech as a guest at the latest meeting of the Federal Council of AzerRos, which took place on October 17 in the Moscow House of Nationalities."Today some diaspora organizations have been "pocketed", they serve only the interests of a certain group of people or their own interests. This is unacceptable! The problem of the community, first of all, consists in helping the development of Azerbaijani-Russian relations, to promote the development of friendship, to help compatriots with integration. Instead of this, organizations only fight with each other for invisible power," the deputy ambassador said.Gudsi Osmanov's performance became a peculiar response to disputes which erupted at the meeting. Some participants of the Federal Council showed discontent with the activity of the authorities of AzerRos, accusing them of a lack of communication with their historical homeland. There were also those who demanded an extraordinary congress to solve the collected questions."I have been in more than 60 regions of Russia and communicated personally with Azerbaijanis there. Today many of them face difficulties: they even have no place to consult and, after all, these people have lived in Russia for 15-20 years," Gudsi Osmanov said. "In places there were already "khans-bai", who consider themselves to be the owners of the entire diaspora in the region, they are engaged in speculation and intrigues. If someone becomes successful, his opponents try to prevent it at once. Many people sitting in this hall don't know about the real problems of our compatriots in the regions," the deputy ambassador declared."They say that the Armenian diaspora is stronger than ours. It isn't stronger, it is we work more weakly. We are busy with internal dismantlings, and it is necessary to be organized correctly, then we will move forward. After all, our potential is much higher.""Where are the deputies today - the representatives of our community? They aren't present, so it is a failure. Why don't famous, influential compatriots come to the events of the community, such as Araz Agalarov, Vagit Alekperov, Year Nisanov, Iskender Khalilov and many others? Because they are tired of us, they don't believe in us," Gudsi Osmanov declared.During the event some participants started supporting the immediate resignation of the president of AzerRos, Asif Magerramov, and the council of elders led by Abbas Abbasov offered to resign."You shouldn't hurry," Gudsi Osmanov noted, "At the moment in the hall there is huge tension, which doesn't promote correct decision-making. You can consider and raise everything about this question at the next meeting if there is a need for it. I'll say figuratively that, if a car is a bad one, then changing the driver doesn't help.I suggest organizing the following soon: to gather all public organizations, to arrange a meeting in November at which representatives of different community strata will gather: businessmen, intellectuals, workers, youth. At this meeting everyone will be able to speak; such misunderstandings, disputes, interruptions and silence as today - nothing like that will happen there. We will develop a concept for progress, for reform of the developed system. We could create an expanded council as the supreme body of the community, in which there would be representatives of each of the organizations. So we will eradicate the lobbying of the interests of individuals. Who will do it if not us?" This proposal by the deputy ambassador was met with applause. The participants of the meeting supported Gudsi Osmanov's idea."AzerRos's council consists of respected, serious people. The organization works well in the Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Samara. Nobody can accuse the diaspora of inaction. However, I don't see representatives of the regions in the hall today. It is necessary to do away with internal dissociation, which only disturbs all of us, once and for all. Actually it cancels out the work done," the deputy ambassador emphasized."Political statements are not the task of such organizations, this must be understood. None of them have any right to speak on behalf of all Azerbaijanis in Russia. The organizations can't do anything other than serve the interests of friendship, develop the relations of our people, to maintain communication with the homeland. The diaspora's role in the issue of helping the state is special. This is also so-called "national diplomacy". The activity of the Jewish community is a fine example of such work.It isn't necessary to look for enemies, our main enemy is internal civil strife. After all, how can a public organization belong to someone? You are residents of big, immense Russia, part of Russian society. The world order isn't exemplary today - countries are divided into strong and weak. In this situation, all of us have to continue and develop together for the sake of our future," Gudsi Osmanov concluded.
