Eduard Poletayev, the editor-in-chief of the Mir Yevrazii magazine, said at a session of the Club of Young Eurasian Politologists in Bishkek that the Eurasian information space was fragmented and needed integration. He noted that the crisis in Ukraine had pushed out the topic of values of Eurasian integration from discussions in Moscow, Astana, Pavlodar, Novosibirsk.

Poletayev said that Mir TV was the only company formed as part of the CIS project, though the quality of its content and viewers varied. Many experts, in his words, did not consider the channel topical. He noted that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan had politicized the tone of the content. The television focuses on economic consolidation and threats to sovereignty.

The expert sees success in Russian-Kazakhstani bilateral cooperation in the information space, but the achievements had been hidden behind the background of opponents of integration. He hopes that the depth of Kazakhstan in the Russian information space will change after January 1, 2015. Poletayev said that there were Kazakhstani journalists needed in leading Moscow agencies.

The analyst pointed out the lack of skilled journalists. For example, he reminded that the topic of economic integration required good knowledge of journalists. Poletayev believes that journalists and experts in the region need protection in order to make impartial evaluations.
