The Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources will inform
society about the importance of protecting the sea and its biological
resources within the framework of World Sea Day, Trend reports, citing
the ministry’s press-release.

On September 27-30, as part of Caspian Week, volunteers will take part
in clearing operations on 955 km of coastline of the Caspian Sea, on
the territories of the village of Nabran and the towns of Sumgayit,
Baku, Neftchaly, Lyankyaran and others, together with the executive
and educational authorities. There will be round-table discussions
organized.

School pupils and media will be informed about Azerbaijan's work on
increasing the biological resources of the Caspian Sea. World Sea Day
has been celebrated since 1978, organized by the International
Maritime Organization, on one of the days of the last week in
September.

World Sea Day is aimed at attracting social attention to the
irreparable harm to seas and oceans caused by excessive fishing,
pollution and global warming.
