Rebels in Donetsk and Luhansk hold elections

The rebels in the Eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk are holding elections on Sunday. Residents of the regions controlled by the rebel forces are expected to vote for the heads of the self-proclaimed People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk and well as members of People's Councils.

 

364 polling stations are believed to have been opened in the Donetsk region and 102 in the Luhansk region.

 

The Ukrainian authorities have already condemned the elections, as have the EU and the US.
