Russian president attends 15th session of RGS
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussian President Vladimir Putin is attending the 15th session of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS), the supervisory board of which he heads. The session will be dedicated to the progress of the RGS in the last five years, elections of a new president, members of the administrative council, the science council and the review commission, TASS reports.
About 240 delegates picked by the regional and local offices of the RGS, heads of federal ministries and agencies, members of the supervisory board and the media council and honorary guests are attending the session.
A gold medal of Nicholas Miklouho-Maclay (a notable Russian ethnographer, anthropologist, biologist and traveler) will be awarded for the first time today. Other awards will be presented too.
