Smuggled Russian gold settles in Turkish state reserve

 

12.376kg of gold ingots confiscated at the Antalya Airport in October 2012 will become part of the Turkish state reserve. Amruddin Edelgiriyev, an ex-aide of the Chechen leader, was trying to smuggle the gold from Grozny.Although the gold shipment was arrested, Edelgeriyev managed to return to Russia, having a diplomatic passport. In response to customs officers, he claimed that the gold belonged to a friend of his, 1news.az reports.All ingots have the “КР119” serial number dated 2008.
