Railway workers on strike in Georgia

Georgian railway workers have been holding a strike for five days now and the situation is getting even more tense, local media report.

About 6 thousand people, or 50 percent of the employees of Georgian Railways, are taking part in the protest campaign. The workers demand additional payments for extra hours and fair bonuses.

The administration of the Georgian Railways public corporation and representatives of labour unions have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement, but the protesters still refuse to stop the campaign.
