Gimri Tunnel to open today

Russia’s longest tunnel, the Gimri Tunnel (4,303m), will open at 8.00am today. It connects 9 highland districts with Makhachkala and the railway, RIA Dagestan reports.

The Gimri Tunnel was closed on September 18 when a counter-terrorism operation regime was imposed on the Untsukulsky District. Law enforcers killed 11 militants in the operation, including 2 militant leaders.
