Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic called the closure of the South Stream gas project bad news for the country. He pointed out that Serbia had been putting efforts into the project under heavy pressure for 7 years.

Serbia was to build a gas pipeline section 422km long. Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that further realization of the South Stream project could no longer continue. He blamed the “unconstructive” position of the European Union for his decision.
