French president and German chancellor discuss Ukrainian crisis

French President Francois Hollande has discussed attempts to solve the Ukrainian crisis in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to a statement published on the French president's official website Sunday, RIA Novosti reports.

“The president of the Republic has discussed the Ukrainian crisis with German Chancellor Angela Merkel this morning, following his yesterday’s meeting with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin. Francois Hollande and Angela Merkel gave their evaluation to the emerging prospects of progress,” the statement said.

Earlier in the day, Hollande also had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the French president’s administration informed.
