World is shocked by CIA torture The whole world is shocked by the terrible facts of torture in secret U.S. prisons, a report published by the US Senate reads. A Russian diplomat who deals with human rights, democracy and the rule of law issues, Konstantin Dolgov, said that the report is a proof of gross violations of human rights in the United States.The U.S. Senate report on torture used by CIA demonstrates that there are serious problems in the United States in the field of human rights, the acting head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hazhiyev said today."The report contains irrefutable facts on the application of the most brutal forms and methods of torture, beyond all moral and legal framework," he said. Turkey has also condemned crimes detailed in the report. "Those who have crossed the law and trampled on the international norms, should be punished," a statement by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey reads.The report has caused wide reaction in China and North Korea as well, Der Spiegel reports.European editions mostly praised the ability of the United States to admit their mistakes. "The United States has made mistakes, sometimes terrible mistakes. But they have the courage to admit mistakes and learn from them," Times wrote.At the same time, many European government leaders, including the leaders of Germany and France, chose not to say anything, Times notes."Anti-Americanism is already so strong in the Islamic world and in the Middle East that no reports can intensify it," the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at Russian Academy of Sciences, Vitaliy Naumkin told VK.
