In the province of Canakkale in northwestern Turkey, an imam of the local mosque has joined the extremist organization "Islamic State". This was reported today by Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinç.

"Unfortunately, the imam of the district of Çanakkale, in the province of Bayramiç, has joined IS. This man was removed from his post. I do not know of similar cases in other provinces, but we are deeply hurt when an imam leaves the country to join an army of killers," the Deputy Prime Minister is quoted by RIA Novosti.
